Obviously, we all celebrate Remembrance Sunday by paying a one-minute tribute of silence and we all had poppies either on us or near us. But have you ever thought about which poppy is for you?

There are 4 different colours of poppies these are red, purple, white and black.

Firstly, the most popular colour of poppy red. This colour of poppy has been used since 1921 in order to commemorate the military personnel who have died in World War 1. This poppy is officially associated the Royal British Legion.

Secondly, the purple coloured poppy. The purple poppy is a symbol of remembrance in the United Kingdom for animals that served during all time of war whether it be civil war or world war. The purple poppy was created in 2006 by the charity Animal Aid as a way to commemorate animals which served during conflicts as the charity viewed that they had been the forgotten victims of war. This is why the purple poppy is officially associated with the Animal Aid Charity.

Thirdly, the white coloured poppy. The white poppy is a symbol of remembrance in the United Kingdom for those who have died in conflict, while still emphasising the never-ending commitment to peace. This coloured poppy was created in 1926 (just a few years after the red poppy in the UK). This coloured poppy is associated with the Peace Pledge Union.

Finally, the black coloured poppy. The black poppy is a symbol of remembrance in the United Kingdom for the African, Black and Caribbean communities who contributed in any way to the war efforts. This coloured poppy was created in 2006 (making it the latest created poppy in the UK). This coloured poppy is associated with BlackPoppyRose.

So hopefully come next Remembrance Day you will know which poppy is for you.
