2.62 billion people use social media, allowing for a massive platform to share, socialise and learn.

While the majority of the population prefer to engage with sites such as Facebook and Instagram, I see huge potential in the blogging world. Not only does it provide a space for individuals to express their beliefs, it also serves as a great marketing strategy.

Nowadays you see more and more small-time blogs becoming a primary source of income; this is thanks to sponsorships and advertisements. Additionally to the ‘Blogosphere’ giving businesses a modern way to promote their products, it is also a much needed space for expressing one’s views and feelings.

German fashion and lifestyle blogger Maddy Beyer, 21, agrees that “It’s a totally new area and I’m pretty sure that we are just at the beginning of it. It’s important because you’ve got a lot of connections around the world and you can share your own, real experience.”

As a blogger myself, I understand the benefits of having a way in which I can unwind all my stress into something I am really, truly passionate about, as is the case with most others. I started my own ‘web log’ back in November 2016 and have found that it’s become a space for me to let out my struggles in a positive way.

Simply, this contemporary media platform is huge in the multimedia world, providing both a safe area to unwind & entertain, and a means of income. You could say it’s a breakthrough in social media!
