On this day, Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank- but there was more than meets the eye at this wedding.

At the age of 12, Princess Eugenie (Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter) had an operation to fix the curvature in her spine. It was caused by scoliosis- a condition that causes the back to bend to one side.

The dress-  designed by British based designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos- reveals the shoulder blades and the top of the spine. Upon close inspection, you can see the thin silver scar left behind by the surgery. She spoke out about it for the first time July 2018 in honor of National Scoliosis Awareness Day. She thanked the people at "The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital who work tirelessly to save lives and make people better." She even posted an image of her x-rays on her Instagram, and the comments were flooded by beautiful messages of people sharing the experience, or people who know others who have shared them.

Princess Eugenie wanted to show young girls that you can show your scars, honor them. She wanted to prove that, even with scars, you can be beautiful. And she truly looked stunning for her big day.

With the wedding over, we wish Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank all the best in their future!
