Police investigating a shooting which left a man with life-changing injuries and temporarily disabled are now appealing to the public for information.

Officers, including those with firearms, were called to Love Lane, in Morden, at around 6.30pm on November 30 following reports of a shooting.

The 39-year-old victim was found by police and the London Ambulance Service at the scene suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.

PC Renshaw said: “This victim has had his life changed and his long-term girlfriend has been severely affected as well. He will be unable to work again for a considerable amount of time.

“He has lost between three and four centimetres from the length of his right leg and faces a further year of surgical operations, rehabilitation and assistance in order to continue his recovery.

“He can currently move only with great difficulty on crutches.

"We need to hear from anyone who might have seen this happen - whether they saw the assailant or the suspect vehicle, or something suspicious leading up to this incident.”

The man told police he was standing in Love Lane, near the junction with Green Lane, when he looked up and a saw a man approach him with a single-barrelled shotgun before being shot once in the leg. He told officers that he did not recognise the attacker before they fled the scene in a car, which is believed to be a black hatchback-type vehicle.

It is possible there was another individual, either male or female, in the car.

The victim was treated in hospital before being discharged.

No arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.

PC Renshaw added: “We need to hear from anyone who might have seen this happen - whether they saw the assailant or the suspect vehicle, or something suspicious leading up to this incident.

“Any information could prove vital to us, so please do call us. Any information will be treated in confidence."
