Wallington High School for Girls is notorious for their school productions, where they show the best of their students' dancing, acting and singing skills. This year is no exception as they take on 'The Wiz' for their show.  The school’s production of ‘The Wiz’ will be performed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of February. They will also be performing a matinee show for the pupils at Bandon Hill Primary School before the evening shows begin. In this they will get the chance to practise one last time and also show younger children from their most local primary school whilst doing so.

The cast is made up of over 60 students from Year 7 to Year 13. The main cast is led by Sunmi Babalola as Dorothy with the other principles coming mostly from Key Stage 4. While many of the principle actresses have participated in previous WHSG productions, Ellie Todd - playing the Scarecrow - is in Year 7 and really shows how the school's talent spans many year groups.

Not only is the cast entirely made of school students but the crew is also made up of pupils. Set design and costume teams were led by sixth formers and assisted by students from the rest of the lower school, engaging girls of all ages in the production. Eve Holcombe, a leader of the costume team, has described the experience as "such a great experience that [she's] so glad to be a part of".

As well as the cast and crew, the band for the production mainly consists of students from Wallington Girls. They are also joined by students from Wilsons school who complete the band. The bassist Ellie Thompson has never participated in a production before but said that she's "thrilled and so excited" to a part of 'The Wiz'. "It's such a unique experience and I'm really looking forward to the actual shows!" she continued.
