Fairfield Halls welcomed the renowned biologist Steve Backshall on Thursday 24th October.
The event drew many young aspiring biologists and naturalists.
The show covered numerous aspects of our oceans’ past, present and future.
Steve Backshall outlined their history from 3.8 billion years ago to modern day and his discoveries in the ocean.
One thing Steve Backshall expressed was his great interest in encouraging the younger generation to get involved in the future of our oceans and how vital it is to protect and conserve them.
The thrill that 95% of our oceans have remained unexplored was impressed onto the crowd and hopefully motivated and formed the creation of prospective conservationists.
Audience member Aleena Bennett said that “he was very engaging and his stories were fascinating, especially his close call with a crocodile and his experiences up close with whales! His show is definitely worth seeing even for teens because the level of knowledge he has is incredible.”
There were additionally signed copies of his new book ‘Deep Blue’ which highlights his experiences across the globe united with marine science and the history of our oceans.
The exciting read is filled with feats, from swimming with crocodiles and tiger sharks to witnessing battles between elephant seals.
The event left an inspiring impact on the audience and the book was met with sensational reviews.
