Harlequins Women will host local rivals Richmond FC at The Twickenham Stoop in their Tyrrells Premier 15s opener on September 21st.

Last year’s runner’s up will welcome their neighbours on the opening weekend of the season in a re-run of the then record breaking 2017/18 fixture which saw over 4,500 supporters witness Quins claim the bragging rights with a narrow 14-12 victory.

Looking to go one better than last year where they lost out to Saracens for the second successive season in being crowned Champions, Quins will play six matches at The Stoop this season, an advantage Co-Head Coach Karen Findlay will look to utilise.

“To begin our campaign at The Stoop is special,” she said.

“We’ve enjoyed some really good contests against Richmond over the last two seasons, but The Stoop is our home turf.

“Playing there gives us an extra impetus to go out and really nail how we want to play the game and channel the yards everyone has made into performance.

“It is the supporters, on occasions such as these, that fuel the excitement and the rivalry. It’s their Quins passion and vocal presence that is the point of difference and truly inspires us to get out there and achieve great results.”

Speaking of last year’s disappointing end to the campaign which resulted in a 33-17 defeat to Saracens at Northampton’s Franklin Gardens, second row Abbey Scott admitted she’s looking to make amends.

“We owe it to ourselves to go one better in 2019/20,” Scott said.

“We have an exceptional group here and, as a team, we know that we can beat anyone on our day and that we must deliver outstanding performances when it matters

“Playing for a Club that can host matches at iconic stadia like The Stoop is a real honour and one that doesn’t fade with each passing season.

“We want to make sure we do it justice and put on a show for our incredible supporters.”

Tickets for all Harlequins Women matches to be played at The Stoop are now available to be purchased at tickets.quins.co.uk.
