Putney's world heavyweight title contender Joe Joyce will be looking to defeat experience campaigner Alexander Ustinov in style at Stevenage Football Club's Lamex Stadium this Saturday, writes Ziad Chaudry.
The 33-year-old former Earlsfield ABC rep faces the former world WBA regular title challenger from Russia on the undercard of Frank Warren's huge Billy Joe Saunders Vs Shefat Isufi WBO world super-middleweight title bill.
And the eight-fight unbeaten Joyce, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist, believes Ustinov, 42, will be the perfect test for him: "He's very experienced and he's going to be a hard strong tough guy," he said. "So it's going to be a good test and a good warm up fight especially I'm working with Adam Booth now (his new trainer) so it will good."
Saturday's fight, which will be televised live on BT Sport, also marks Joyce's debut under Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions banner. With rival British heavyweights fellow South Londoner Daniel Dubois and Nathan Gorman also in the same stable, the Putney man will be looking to impress his new promoter and win over some new fans in Stevenage come fight night this Saturday.
"With all my fights I aim to impress," he added. "But it would be good to take him out in spectacular style and get him out quickly.
"I'm sure there is going to be a big reception and that. It's going to be a packed out crowd and should be good to have sudden support from Stevenage."
