Goals from Charlie Alexiou and Marlon Pinder gave the firsts a 2-1 win over Banstead Athletic in their final league game of the season.

With Rovers having two cup finals in the next couple of weeks, Darren Salmon and Donny Rennalls rested key players and bought in numerous members of the Rovers U23's.

The first half was a typical end of season game with chances at a premium and neither goalkeeper tested, the closest either side coming when Kyle Henry blazed over on fifteen minutes.

Rovers started the second half brightly, Phil Page fired an effort over early in the half, before Rovers took the lead just after the hour. A deep corner was headed back across goal by Mason Seagroatt and Charlie Alexiou was on hand to force the ball home, for his first goal for the club.

Banstead hit back strongly, and veteran keeper Dave Hill did well to turn away a low Tommy Hutchins drive, but it was Hutchins who came out on top on 75 minutes, gliding passed two defenders and curling home the equaliser.

Parity did not last long, as Seagroatt forced an error on the Banstead left, pinched the ball and squared for Marlon Pinder to slot home the winner.

Steve Newman tested Hill with a fizzed effort late on, but Rovers held on to secure all three points.

In total Rovers fielded seven teenagers in the fixture - creating a nice bookend to the season, having started the campaign against Knaphill will seven teenagers.

Next up for Rovers is Sunday's Southern Combination Challenge Cup final with Walton Casuals. It's a 3pm kick off at Sutton Utd.
