Carshalton Athletic's promotion ambitions still look vibrant after they extended a current unbeaten league run to 13 matches last weekend, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Tommy Bradford and substitute Omar Koroma shared the goals as the Robins saw off visiting Brightlingsea Regent 3-0 in front of a crowd edging towards 500.

The club still frustratingly sit sixth in the Bostik Premier League however, just one point outside the play-off places, as those above them also all won on Saturday.

But Koroma believes all he and his teammates can do is just keep their good run going.

"We just have to keep focused. We are only looking for three points from every match now so that we can take advantage if other teams drop points," the striker said after the game.

Carshalton made all the early running against Brightlingsea but wayward finishing or good goalkeeping kept the scoreline blank until the 42nd minute when Bradford swept home Christie Pattisson's low cross for his tenth goal of the season.

That relaxed the fidgety home crowd and, as the visitors flagged during the second-half, the introduction of Koroma led to him curling home a stunning 30-yard free kick with 10 minutes to go.

And the icing on the cake came on 87 minutes as Ricky Korboa robbed the last defender of the ball, bore down on goal and then unselfishly squared to Koroma whom side-footed into an empty net.

"At 1-0 up you can never feel really comfortable as the other team could get a lucky break or a set-piece, but in the end it was a good three points" Koroma reflected.

"I was telling my teammates on the bench that I felt there were more goals to be had, so I was pleased to get on and contribute."

Next up for Carshalton is the short trip to Corinthian-Casuals this weekend and it is a game Koroma is really up for after the topsy-turvy encounter back in November.

"They beat us at home earlier in the season and it was a tough game," the striker said as he recalled scoring a penalty in an eventual 3-2 defeat.

"That result annoyed me but we've pushed on a lot since then. I'm looking forward to Saturday and the rest of our games, it's an exciting time."

Carshalton Athletic visit Corinthian-Casuals on Saturday 30th March (kick-off 3pm).
