Brentford were downed by two second half goals by Middlesbrough, but how did the players rate?
Daniel Bentley
Admire his willingness to play possession football from the back but looked shaky on occasions. Made a fine save standing tall in the first half to deprive Hugill but could do little with the two goals. 7
Moses Odubajo
Showed tremendous energy down the left flank and worked well with Judge just in front of him. Looks half erratic half maverick when in possession. Capable of the sublime, and sublimely awful within minutes! The goals came from the right and maybe the right back could’ve done a little more in stopping the deliveries. 7
Henrik Dalsgaard
Wore the captains’ armband and did exactly what is asked of him, like every week. A solid 7 out of ten as usual from the right back. Composed head, leads by example but offers virtually nothing going forward.6
Ezri Konsa
Forming a great partnership with Mepham and looks like he’ll only improve. Composed, quick, strong, athletic, reads the game well but today was caught out for the second goal. 6
Chris Mepham
The international break, and the break from the international break seems to have energised the centre back. Solid at the back, competed well against the rugged Jordan Hugill for Boro and even ventured forward once or twice. Who knew he had a cheeky back-heel in his locker?! 6

Lewis Macleod
The quiet man in midfield. But don’t be deceived by his impact and importance. With McEachran sitting deep the midfielder kept it ticking over in the middle of the park providing endless movement and options. 6
Sergi Canos
The Spaniard had an indifferent game. Commitment and effort can’t be faulted but occasionally his decision making lets him down. 6
Nico Yennaris
A quiet performance by his standards. Industrious and willing but offered little going forward. Looked far more comfortable sitting deep after McEachran left the pitch. 6
Neal Maupay
Always a willing running he didn’t get much change from Danny Batth and Aden Flint at the heart of Boro’s defence. Held the ball up exceptionally well when required and drew a number of fouls from Tony Pulis’s men. Almost scored a cracker in the first half but was denied by Randolph in between the sticks. 6
Josh McEachran
Passing was off in the first half and nearly got punished but for Bentley in goal to save his skin. Sitting deeper and deeper and relying on a Hollywood pass to get the team out of danger. When it comes off it’s great, but when it doesn’t the crowd let him know about it. Sometimes you wish he played in the number 10 role and not the quarterback role he seems to occupy at Griffin Park. Rightly pulled off just after the second. 5
Alan Judge
Dovetailed well with Odubajo behind him and was the Bees best weapon. Provided an option constantly and delivered some delightful balls in the box, just a shame the Boro defenders towered over Maupay in the middle. Deserved his goal.7
SUBS:
Emiliano Marcondes
Replaced the ineffective McEachran and made an impact. Full of energy and looked a threat. Changed the game and should’ve come on sooner. 8
Josh Dasilva
Offered drive and thrust that was missing in the first half. A real talent. 7
