Promotion and relegation battles were decided in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance on Thursday.

Long term leaders Royal Oak and Coach & Horses both secured titles in their respective divisions and will be playing in the Elite League next summer, as well as enjoying their £125 prize money.

The Royal Oak had one more tricky test away at the White Hart.

Needing just one point to wrap up the Tier 2 East championship, they took the entire lot with an impressive 3-0 sets win, with John Cochrane showing no mercy winning all of his three frames.

The Coach & Horses were in a similar position before play started, but the class of Rod Altes made sure there were to be no last minute dramas in the Tier 2 West.

The Coach, with Altes in free flowing mode, eased passed early pace setters Kings Arms with a 3-0 win to return to the top flight.

Elsewhere in Tier 2, the Fox Under The Hill shared the points with Bellegrove Social Club and will now meet Erith Snooker Master 8’ers in the promotion play off for the final place in next summer’s Elite league, after the 8’ers also drew 2-2 with Our Lady Of The Rosary.

Glen Bradstreet rounded off the regular season with a hat trick for the 8’ers.

Celebrations too off a different type at Riley’s in the Mechanical Welding Services Elite League. Both Riley’s Rovers and Rack Pack needed positive results with the Rovers needing to better the Rack Pack’s to leap frog them and avoid relegation.

It was the Rovers who emerged victorious with a home win over already relegated Summerfield, thanks to both Darren Porter and Ryan Francis remaining unbeaten all evening.

With maximum points from the 3-0 win the Rovers ensured they remain in the Elite League for the 2011 season.

It was a different story for the Rack Pack who had the stiffer task.

They suffered a crushing blow at Riley’s Woolwich where their hosts were chasing the Elite League runners up prize of £100.

The 3-0 sets and 12-3 frames defeat means the talented Rack Pack will be Tier 2 next summer.

Pickwick’s Dean James returned to the baize from a couple of months absence and made his presence felt as the Pickwick won by odd set to condemn Riley’s A to the drop. Newly crowned champions Hotshots never let up as they despatched O’Connors 3-0, dropping O’Connors to third spot, where they settle for the £50 payout.
