The Summerfield produced their best pool of the season this week in the premier division of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance.

Looking certainties for relegation, adrift at the bottom before play got underway at the Coach & Horses, but by the end of this relegation encounter their 10-5 away success now gives them real hope of avoiding the drop with three league matches left to play.

Their success is bad news for the Coach who also remain in the relegation zone.

The Fox Under The Hill and Woolwich Catholic Club picked up very few points against two of the league’s stronger teams this week and are both hovering around the relegation play off spot.

The Fox got blasted by the Hotshots 12-3, whilst the Catholic Club got mauled 11-4 by the Jolly Fenman, where captain Paul Donohoe and Tony Halpin helped themselves to three wins each.

Martin Storey and Paul Gafa’ made sure the Pickwick stayed in control of third place, as the Beehive got smoked out 11-4, and the George IV remain fourth with an 8-7 win at Riley’s.

It’s getting quite jittery in the first division, and a few teams appear to be heading for a white knuckle ride before the season closes, and it remains to be seen which team’s will hold their nerve as we get to the business end of the season.

The Kings Arms surprisingly suffered their first defeat of the season away at the Angerstein Hotel 8-7, and the Blue Anchor in third place overcame the leaders King William IV 9-6.

John Meaney who is in great form after his Interleague team trials and Andy Abbott took a liking to the King William table and remained undefeated for the night.

So with the top two losing and the Blue Anchor winning, the Bellegrove Social Club made sure they stayed in touch, with a 9-6 win of their own at home to Lee Green Constitutional Club.

Gallies remain in fifth position with a narrow 8-7 win against Riley’s Royals.

In the reserve division Our Lady Of The Rosary took a big jump towards becoming champions, with a thumping 9-3 home win against Pickwick Academicals.

The Running Horses enjoyed the taste of victory against Fanny On the Hill, winning 10-2.
