The spotlight this week falls onto the first division of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance with a history making performance from the King William IV.

Their amazing 15-0 win away at the Eagle Tavern, the first time this has happened in SLKPA history puts them back on top of the table with the run in to the season’s end now well and truly underway.

The Williams’ Flockhart family tore into the Eagle Tavern, with Matt (Senior) getting a full set and captain Matt (Junior) absolutely delighted with his team’s performance.

The Kings Arms remain undefeated yet slip to second spot despite their 9-6 win against promotion hopefuls Blue Anchor.

Jamie Kay, never one to hang about if the balls are open, completed a total clearance whilst Nick Grindley is doing all he can to see the Kings Arms collect silverware with another three wins out of three.

The Bellegrove Social Club haven’t given up hope of playing pool in the premier division next season.

Inspired by David Graham, Gary Cufley, and new signing Gary McCabe they beat the improving Riley’s Royals 12-3 to close the gap in fourth place.

The mid table battle between Lee Green Constitutional Club and Gallies saw the latter prevail 9-6.

Whilst the Ship & Billet have settled in at their new home at the Crown, recording just their second win of the season 9-6 against the Angerstein.

In the premier division, it’s pretty much business as usual, with all the top teams scrapping over every possible point, in a bid to outdo each other, and the teams near the foot of the table struggling.

The Hotshot’s extended their lead at the top by thumping Woolwich Catholic Club 14-1, just when the Jolly Fenman thought they may have edged a little closer to the summit with a fine 13-2 home win over the Fox Under The Hill.

Andre Cox is on a mission to keep the Coach & Horses in the top flight, winning three of his side’s five frames won, but he hadn’t counted on Paul Slater doing likewise and James Sheed chipping in with a classy dish, as the Pickwick ran out victors to remain third.

The George IV climb to place after a similar score at the Summerfield, but 2009 hasn’t started too favourably for the Beehive, as they lost for the second week in a row.

This week, Riley’s enjoyed the freedom of the table at the Beehive winning 10-5.

A win that pushed them firmly into mid table and well away from the relegation dog flight. New teams are always welcome into the SLKPA, with teams consisting of 5 or more players and matches played on Thursday evenings.

A low budget pilot league is being launched early 2009 to attract more teams into the SLKPA.

Team registrations of £15 now being taken.
