The Summerfield nearly pulled off a big shock in the premier division of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance.

Propping up the rest of the division in bottom spot, they played sensationally well, leading all the way until losing on the last frame of the night to the undefeated Jolly Fenman 8- 7.

Hotshots took the opportunity to widen the gap slightly at the top with a win over their landlords the Coach & Horses, 9-6.

The George IV now have a head of steam up and cruised passed third place Beehive.

Even captain Tony Frost in top form couldn’t prevent them recording a fine 10-5 away victory.

James Sheed provided the fireworks for the Pickwick’s 12-3 demolition of the Fox Under The Hill.

Whilst Riley’s will be delighted to have put a little daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Their 8-7 win away at relegation threatened Woolwich Catholic Club means they should enjoy Christmas slightly more than their counterparts, who will still be looking over their shoulders at the drop zone.

Very tight too in the first division.

The top three won again, and this dogfight looks likely to go to the wire come March. The Blue Anchor moved closer to the summit winning 10-5 at the Eagle Tavern, whilst both the other promotion chasers won 9-6.

King William IV won away at Gallies to remain top where they have been all season, and Jamie Kay completed a hat trick of frame wins including one complete clearance, as the Kings Arms came out on top, away at Riley’s Royals.

The festivities began early than normal at the Ship & Billet, where the home team notched up their first win of the season 8-7, denting Bellegrove Social Club’s chance of joining the promotion picture.

Lee Green Constitutional Club won at home in the mid table clash with the Angerstein Hotel 9-6.

New teams are always welcome into the SLKPA, with teams consisting of 5 or more players and matches played on Thursday evenings.

A low budget pilot league is being launched early 2009 to attract more teams into the SLKPA. Team registrations now being taken.
