Ritchie Mitchell was the difference between the top two sides in the premier division of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance, as the Jolly Fenman came out on top against the Hotshots in the battle between the two unbeaten teams this season.

His fine form and stunning clearance in frame 11 helped the Fenman to win narrowly at home to close the gap on the Hotshots, despite Rob Chalmers best efforts, to just 3 points, at the halfway stage of the campaign.

The Beehive really got buzzing at home against relegation threatened Summerfield. After losing frame 1, the Beehive won all of the remaining 14 to jump back into third spot but are still a way off the leading two.

The bragging rights at the Pickwick were all coming from the away corner as the George IV, inspired by Craig Mallinder, thrashed the Pickwick 11-4, resulting in the teams switching places with each other in the league table.

Some interesting match ups at the bottom of the premier division too.

Riley’s inflicted a painful 8-7 away victory over the improving Coach & Horses to ease their relegation fears, and the Fox Under The Hill did likewise at Woolwich Catholic Club to earn their first win of the season, where Simon Evans played out of his skin to earn the Fox three precious points.

The first division seems to have settled down with a pattern emerging.

Again the top four teams all won, with little change to the point difference.

Both the King William IV and Kings Arms won 12-3, keeping the William IV on top and the Kings Arms third, but with a game in hand.

Jamie Kay and Geoff Evans found potting the black much to their liking, and did so 3 times each in the Kings Arms’ victory at the Eagle Tavern.

Blue Anchor also won 9-6 at the Ship & Billet but are loosing ground on their rivals, by not winning as heavy.

Bellegrove Social Club stay just in touch in fourth place, with an 11-4 win at Gallies. Near the foot of the table Riley’s Royals are getting their act together now thanks to their new signings, this week they enjoyed a home 8-7 success against Lee Green Constitutional Club.

New teams are always welcome into the SLKPA, with teams consisting of 5 or more players and matches played on Thursday evenings.

A low budget pilot league is being launched early 2009 to attract more teams into the SLKPA.
