Unattached runner Edward Raymond won the Wimbledon Common 5km time trial for the first time at his fifth attempt on Saturday.

Raymond clocked 17 minutes 28 seconds to finish just five seconds ahead of Clapham Chasers’ Ben Millar, with Rob Walker of Abbey Runners Leeds third (17:50).

Shelley Cleghorn won the women’s race for the first time at the 13th attempt, clocking 21:33, to finish 28 seconds ahead of another unattached runner Catherine Moran. Thames Hare & Hounds’ Maddalaine Ansell was third (22:09).
