MOST of the promotion and relegation issues were finalised in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance this week.

Gaining promotion to the Elite League and winning their respective divisions were the Great Harry from Tier 2 East and the Coach & Horses from Tier 2 West.

Alas, the Jolly Fenman who made a brave effort with a late run of victories fell a point short of safety, after demolishing the Pickwick 3-0 away, and will now slip down to play in Tier 2 next summer.

It could have been so different but for the Beehive who survived judgement day, the final match of the season, with a 3-0 win of their own, upsetting the form book by beating the league runners George IV A, who fielded a weakened team.

Captain Tony Frost and Alex Thompson pulled off fine clearances to enable the Beehive to remain in the top flight for another season.

The two teams already relegated suffered a last defeat.

The Fox Under The Hill lost 3-0 away at Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Summerfield went down by a similar score at the Hotshots, SLKPA summer league champions.

John Ratcliff made sure the champagne never went flat as the Great Harry secured the Tier 2 East title.

His three frame wins were instrumental in his side's tough battle at the Eagle Tavern.

Despite their low position in the table the Eagle made life really difficult for the Harry, but the champions had done just enough to win 2-1.

This result meant that the Railway Club Boys finish as runners up and will meet fellow runners up the George IV B from the Tier 2 West in the promotion play off.

They completed their season with a 2-1 away win at the Blue Anchor.

The Coach & Horses wrapped up Tier 2 West with a match to spare.

Yet another 3-0 win away at the Woodman, and they will be a real force in next season's Elite League.

The George IV B won 2-1 away at the Woolwich Catholic Club with their minds now firmly set on the play off.

And in the chasing pack for the minor places there were wins for Lee Green Constitutional Club and the King Arms.

The registration window is now open for any new teams wishing to join the SLKPA with matches played on Thursday evenings.
