Hotshots record first whitewash of the season

Top played bottom as Hotshots went to Bellegrove A with 37 points between them, which got even greater as Hotshots dominated from start to finish. 

Ryan Francis, Joe Kelly, George Taylor, Tony Gear, and Danny Kelliher all won all three of their frames to give Hotshots the win by whitewash, 15-0. 

This victory made Hotshots the first team in the division to go through 100 points and they have extended their lead at the top to twelve points. 

Rugrats were leading the chasing pack and they hosted sixth placed New Eltham New Stars, 24 points behind them. 

New Stars won the opening frame, but Rugrats great form and team spirit carried them through, and they won the next four frames of the set, to take it, 4-1. 

Shane O’Reilly won frame six and he was joined by, Jimmy Maloney, Dylan Suggars, and Steve Gibson to give Rugrats the second set, 4-1 to give them the match before the start of the final set. 

Rugrats were consistent and won the final set, 4-1 as well for a, 12-3 final score. 

It was a great result for Rugrats, with Maloney, Suggars, and Gibson all winning three frames and O’Reilly was also unbeaten scoring a brace. 

Despite the loss, New Stars go up one place to fifth, as Pickwick lost a lot of ground, dropping from fifth to eighth as they didn’t have a game. 

Sharks in third are keeping up their pressure on the top two with a, 10-5 victory over seventh placed Falconwood Club. 

Although Bellegrove had won one more game than Eltham Terrace Nuthouse, they were four places and fourteen points ahead of them, but this match was very close with each set being won by the odd frame, 3-2. 

Nuthouse got off to a great start with Shaun Hammond and Craig Jones winning the first two frames. 

However, Shaun Hennessey, Adam Coppen, and Dan Foley won the next three frames to give Bellegrove the first set, 3-2. 

The first four frames of the second set were shared, before Foley won the second set decider in a row, both against Paul Doherty. 

Bellegrove were, 6-4 up going into the final set when Leighton Aston pulled one back for Nuthouse, before Peter Whyte and Nick Steadman won the next two frames to give Bellegrove the win. 

The last two frames were shared making the final score, 9-6 in Bellegrove’s favour. 

Bellegrove had three unbeaten players, Coppen, Foley and Whyte, who all won two frames. 

The top two in Division Two played each other, as Eltham Terrace Tigers went to Hurricanes Reborn, with seven points between them. 

The first set went the way of the league leaders, as Tigers punished any errors to take a, 4-0 lead. 

However, Phoebe French rode her luck a little, before taking out a fine finish to prevent the set whitewash and bring her team back to, 4-1. 

Lee Gladdish went in off on the black to give Luke Knight frame six and Michelle Brown made an excellent clearance to pull it back to, 4-3. 

John Ly won his second frame to put Tigers, 5-3 up, but Hurricanes came back with Phoebe French and Arif Salih winning to give their team the set, 4-1 and level the match at one set and five frames all. 

Ben Walsh was unlucky in the eleventh, allowing James Cooke to clear and put Tigers back in the lead, 6-5. 

This was the catalyst as Tigers won the next two frames to give them the match. 

Salih pulled a frame back, before John Ly completed his hat-trick to make the final score, 9-6. 

Hurricanes Captain was proud of his team’s battling capabilities, especially Phoebe French, who scored an unbeaten brace. 

These two remain the top two in the division, although Tigers are now ten points ahead. 

Holding onto third place are Goodfellows, who narrowly beat second from bottom Bexleyheath Raiders,8-7. 

The top four remain the same, as bottom of the table and winless, White Hart hosted Farmhouse in fourth, 37 points ahead of them, so you would have expected Farmhouse to have an easy time in this fixture. 

After Farmhouse took the first frame, White Hart shocked their opponents, with Alex Hodinitu, Chris Pricop, and Kieran Corbett taking the next three frames, before Barrie Blake pulled one back for Farmhouse. 

This did not dishearten White Hart, as Keith Allen, Charlie Liddiard, Hodinitu, and Louie Hopper strung four frames together to put their team on the hill. 

Nick Brown won frame ten to prevent the set whitewash. 

White Hart were looking for just one frame for the win and had just missed out on a whitewashed set however, Farmhouse turned it around with John Denahy, Steve Carpenter, Brown, Blake, and Lacey Denahy winning all five frames in the final set, making it six on the spin to give them the, 8-7 triumph. 

Farmhouse are now on the same points as Goodfellows and are three points behind Hurricanes. 

White Hart remain bottom of the table but are now three points behind Plough & Harrow who didn’t have a game this week. 

Fifth placed The Con Men went to Sundridge Park Working Men’s Club in sixth, with eleven points between them. 

The first ten frames swung one way then the other, with the score locked at five all going into the final set. 

The Con Men’s Kai Taylor and Rob Osborn were the first players to put two frames together putting their team on the hill. 

Calvin Key won the match and Derek Purvis made it four frames in a row, before Dave Sparey prevented the set whitewash, making the final score, 9-6. 

Both teams had one unbeaten player, with Sparey and Osborn both scoring hat-tricks. 

SLKPA Division One appears to be split in half, with eleven points between the top five, ten points between the bottom five, and twelve separating fifth and sixth, so there will not only be a battle for promotion, but also to avoid relegation.

There was one all top of the table clash as second placed Bears hosted Downham Tavern Terrors four points behind in fourth. 

This was a close game from start to finish, which Bears just edged, 8-7 to keep the pressure on Duke of Northumberland above them. 

Saying that, Cue-Ologists took full advantage of how close this game was by thrashing bottom of the table Bell Ya Later, 11-4 to leapfrog Bears by one point into second place. 

It was top versus second bottom as Duke of Northumberland travelled to Blackheath Sports Club with 32 points between them. 

The home side had the better start, with Alan Dolan and Mel Barnes winning the opening two frames. 

However, Dave Pearce took a tight third frame, swinging the tie in Duke’s favour with Phil Tworek and Sam Kinsville winning the next two frames to give Duke the first set, 3-2. 

It was still nip and tuck and Blackheath were unlucky not to take the sixth, as Dolan potted a good long black, but the white flicked off another ball and went in off, giving Paul Clements the frame to make it four frames in a row. 

Neil Shelton pulled one back for Blackheath to keep the game close at, 4-3. 

Then Duke turned on the style, taking seven frames on the spin, before Mel Barnes won the last frame, making the final score, 11-4. 

Despite the large margin of victory, Duke only had two unbeaten players, Pearce and Kinsville both scoring hat-tricks. 

This result leaves Blackheath still winless, but second from bottom, one point ahead of Bell Ya Later. 

On the other hand, Duke have extended their lead at the top to nine points and become the first team in the division to break through 100 points. 

There was 19 points and three places between Eltham Terrace Rack Pack and Bellegrove Flyers, but you would never have guessed, as fifth paced Flyers just edged this tie, 8-7 which was enough to lift Flyers into fourth.  

The only all bottom half of the table clash came as sixth placed, New Eltham New Boys faced Academicals in seventh with just one point between them, and New Boys extended that lead to four points with a, 9-6 triumph. 

The gap between fifth and sixth has reduced to ten points however, the difference between the top five and bottom five has increased to fifteen points.
