ENFIELD IGNATIANS bloomed in the warm sunshine and their unbeaten Ready4Rugby record was maintained following a very fluent 20-12 win over Finsbury Park at Donkey Lane.

The two sides last met in December when Finsbury Park almost pulled off a famous victory, only for Ignatians to rescue the situation with a nervy 10-9 win.

Ignatians had been duly warned and, building on their win against Saracens Amateurs the previous week, they flew out of the traps by forging a 7-2 lead in the opening quarter.

Consequently, the hosts never looked back and, a pleasing fluency coupled with some sturdy defence, saw them continually cut loose and, although Park had their moments, the outcome was never in doubt.

The pacey Harry Masini had a field day by claiming six touchdowns, although it was Hadee Fayaz who sent Ignatians on their way by rattling off a quick hat-trick in the opening segment of the game.

Alfie Fordham, Alex McCall and Dave Gear each claimed a brace, and there were single scores for Ben Mills, Liam Horn, Jack O’Toole and Seyi Adeosun.

Captain Ben Mills said: “We enjoyed an excellent first quarter and played some good rugby. We also worked hard in defence and it was certainly a step up on the performance against Saracens Amateurs.”
