Chairman of the Potters Bar-based Green Belt Motor Club, Malcolm Wise, recently finished a successful motor racing season by winning the prestigious Modified Ford Series in in his Ford Escort Cosworth.

This series for 10 year old Ford saloon cars consisted of eight events held across three different race circuits, including Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, Snetterton near Norwich and Brands Hatch in Kent.

In his white and yellow Chandu Tailor & Son sponsored car, which has over 500 horsepower, Wise has managed to notch up two wins and three third place finishes in the fiercely contested class for cars with turbocharged engines.

Consistency was the key to Wise’s success as he scored points in all eight of the races.

Wise’s arch rival Dave Cockell who usually finishes ahead of him, struggled throughout the season, while competing in a similar but slightly more powerful Ford Escort, and failed to score any points in half of the races.

Apart from being a super-fast racing driver, Wise does most of his own car preparation including putting together its ultra-powerful turbocharged engine.
