Richard Barrington has confirmed he will not be leaving Saracens at the end of the season despite their relegation from the Gallagher Premiership.

The reigning Premiership and European champions will be relegated from the English top-flight at the end of the current campaign as a result of salary cap breaches but the prop, who has been at the club since 2013, says he has no intention of leaving anytime soon.

The news comes days after both Jackson Wray and Billy Vunipola committed themselves to continuing their time in north London.

“Of course I’m staying at Saracens next year,” said Barrington in a Q&A session on the club’s Instagram channel. “I love the club, I’ve been here eight years and I’ll stay for as long as they want me.

“On the pitch stuff has been amazing but off the pitch I’ve made some close friends.

“I have amazing friends here, family, at Saracens who I will never forget when I’m older. I’ve made a lot of memories off the pitch with those boys whether it’s going away to South Africa, Marbella or New York.

“The trips have been amazing, I’ve really enjoyed them and making memories with the boys.”

Barrington joined Saracens from Jersey and has since made 108 appearances, winning three European Cups, four Premiership titles and the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Saracens’ impending relegation to the Championship has been delayed due to the league being suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
