Enfield Borough got 2020 off to the perfect start by recording their biggest win in almost two years – a 7-0 thrashing of struggling Brimsdown.
Richard Ennin led the way in the scoring with a hat-trick, Ruben Carvalho provided a brace while Elliot Harris and Blessing Tshibikubla provided one apiece.
Borough took the lead after a quarter of an hour when Kofi Appiah found Ennin on the edge of the box and he coolly finished past the keeper.
The lead was doubled on 33 minutes when Harris’ ball into the box was deflected into Ennin’s path for him to fire home and it was three shortly after when Tshibikubla headed home Harris’ cross at the far post.
Borough notched a fourth before the break Ennin’s ball across the six yard box was turned in by Harris from a matter of yards.
The hosts continued their onslaught after the break and scored for a fifth time when Carvalho finished off a scintillating team move, and it was six when Ennin’s long-range drive was fumbled over the line by the keeper.
Goal number seven arrived late on as Carvalho completed his brace, providing a deft finish to Hamza Semakula’s cross.
The win leaves Borough eighth in Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League, while their next game is away at Stotfold this Saturday.
