Enfield Town’s poor start to the month continued as they were thrashed 4-0 at home by Bowers & Pitsea in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Town were thrashed 4-1 by Bognor Regis Town last weekend but couldn’t muster the required response as Lewis Manor, Quentin Monville and Bradley Warner all helped towards successive wins for Bowers having previously not won in four.

Town rarely looked like getting anything out of the game and were on the back foot from the start. Monville fired in a warning shot that was dealt with by Nathan McDonald, while Billy Bricknell did manage to get an effort away at the other end, which was blocked by Lewis Leahy.

With 12 minutes on the clock, Bowers took the lead as Manor found himself in plenty of room to place past McDonald and give the strugglers a surprise lead.

Sam Hatton and Muhammadu Faal both had effort kept out by Callum Chafer in the Bowers goal, but that was as good as it got in the first half for the hosts as they fell further behind.

A poor pass out from the back was picked up and although the first cross was initially blocked, the ball found its way to Monville who notched the second.

Enfield needed to come out and attack in the second half but that never seemed to occur. Instead, the visitors went further in front when Manor rifled a cross into the roof of the net.

Painfully, it was four just minutes later – Warner making no mistake with his strike after a fast break down the left.

Faal had an opportunity at the end to at least gain some personal credit, but his mazy run was stopped by Chafer.

Attention now turns to the FA Trophy for Town as they host National League side Ebbsfleet United this Saturday.
