Enfield Borough’s unbeaten start to the Spartan South Midlands Division One season was ended with a 5-2 loss at home to league leader St Panteleimon.
Richard Ennin and Jamiah Lawrence-Plentie were on target for Borough but a hat-trick from Courtney Massay and goals by Roberto Katsikas and Noyan Tajbakhsh handed the visitors the points.
The Panteleimon trio had their side 3-0 up by the 20th minute, but they were reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half when Javonne Molloy was dismissed for a studs-up tackle.
Borough pulled one back when a sweet strike from Lawrence-Plentie flew into the net, but hopes of a comeback are diminished within a minute when Massay slotted home a fourth.
He then went on to complete his hat-trick on the break before Ennin’s tap-in with the final kick of the game capped the scoring.
Next up for the side is a home league match against Langford tomorrow night before travelling to London Tigers on Saturday, October 5.
