Enfield Ignatians recorded their second pre-season victory with a 36-0 win against Stockwood Park on Saturday.

Hadee Fayaz’ and Michael Hall scored a brace apiece while Alex McCall and Charlie Hoy got themselves on the scoresheet, with Jake Bates adding three conversions.

Ignatians were the more threatening side from the off and got their first score through Fayaz when he was played in by Bates following a quick tap penalty.

Despite some golden opportunities going begging through consistent spillages, Hall blasted his way through for the side’s second before Fayaz secured his second from Lukas Yoxhall’s pass.

Hall then scored his brace when he dummied his way over following an excellent carry from Dave Gear.

As the game drew to a close, McCall made the most of a tiring Stockwood defence by running over his side’s fifth, and a final try arrived when Jack Wilson and McCall combined for Hoy to go over in the corner, sealing a second win of pre-season.

After the game, Ignatians head coach Shane Manning said: “It’s another stepping stone in the right direction. We have a final hit out against Biggleswade on Saturday, but what is good as that picking the final 18 [for the first league game] is becoming very difficult.”
