Enfield Borough suffered a narrow defeat at Spartan South Midlands League Division One leaders Harefield United on Saturday, losing 2-1.
Borough found themselves two goals behind at the break courtesy of Sam Shaw and Lenny Farhall, and although the performance improved in the second half, Tage Kennedy’s late penalty wasn’t enough to steal a point.
The league’s top scorers, who are yet to be beaten so far this season, needed only 12 minutes to get the ball rolling in this one – Sam Shaw netting his 14th of the season.
Leading scorer Lenny Farhall then took the opportunity to notch his 30th of the campaign when he converted from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Borough stayed strong in the second period in a bid to not let the home side run away with the game, and they managed to get on the scoresheet, albeit too late, when Kennedy netted a penalty in the fourth minute of injury time.
The result leaves Borough ninth in the table with six games left to play.
