Enfield Ignatians roared into the semi-finals of the Middlesex Vets cup competition after humbling their Grasshoppers counterparts 53-5 at Donkey Lane on Saturday.

In a one-sided contest, the Pulsars, as the team are commonly known as, ran in nine tries with Dean Gardener claiming the lion’s share after crossing the whitewash four times.

The other scorers were Rob Gardener (2), Chris Lyons, Richard Clack and Dan Pearce.

Jack Wilson further turned the screw by adding four conversions.

The Pulsars will play their away semi-final in February and if they win that they are guaranteed a home final.

Meanwhile, Ignatians Under-18s lost 50-14 to Harpenden in a friendly at Donkey Lane on Sunday.

The hosts, up against a first division side, claimed consolation tries via Harry Wilkins and Kian Linnane.

The Enfield Tigers, the Ignatians’ girls team, formed the guard of honour prior to the England Roses versus the USA women’s international at Allianz Park on Friday night.
