The Tier 2 Promotion and Relegation Play Offs were the last team matches to be completed in the summer 2016 SLKPA league season.

Both Play Offs were held at Hustlers Pool & Snooker Club in Woolwich and both pitted a much fancied side against an underdog.

In the race for promotion to next summer’s Elite League, recently relegated Crayford Social Club Rugrats were confident of a swift return to the top tier with a win over Bellegrove Social Club.

The match started in dramatic style with the Rugrats’ Adam Hewson clearing after a Bellegrove dry break.

Frame 2 saw Bellegrove’s Jason Brunton reply doing just the same to level the scores at one each.

From here in the match settled down to more traditional pool, but there was nothing to separate the teams after ten frames.

Bellegrove’s David Graham was unbeaten with two wins.

The third set began and three frames in a row with some fine potting from Brunton, Martin Luff and Dave Jandu meant that the Bellegrove had upset the odds and won the Play Off Cup and promotion for the first time in their history with an 8-5 victory.

The relegation play off was no less dramatic.

North Heath Social Club were favourites to overcome Pickwick Academicals who had had a poor season.

Again little could separate the teams throughout the match and the tie went down to a one frame decider at 7-7.

Paul Baker from North Heath and James Grant from the Academicals both remained unbeaten on the night with two and three wins respectively.

But it was Chris Bracey (aka Charlie Mumbles) of the Academicals who stole the limelight, holding his nerve to sink the final black and condemn North Heath to Tier 3 pool next summer.
