Two SLKPA pool teams entered the National Finals of the Knock Out Cup in Great Yarmouth over the weekend of 3-4th October, after qualifying via local completion at county level.

SLKPA 2 were drawn in a difficult group and beat Northwich A 10-8 before losing to Dinnington to face Northwich A again in a play off and this time came unstuck 10-7 to exit at the group stage.

Both the opponents are strong Interleague forces who usually go close to winning the trophy.

SLKPA first team beat Kettering and Stoke Old Boys both 10-6 to emerge as Group 12 winners.

In the final match on Saturday in the Knock Out phase SLKPA beat Mr Pools from Colchester 10-4 to go through to the last 32 played on Sunday.

This is where the quality of pool ramps up.

Not content with a last 32 spot SLKPA then beat Stoke B 10-8 in a last frame nail biting decider to get the last 16 and guaranteed prize money.

Here SLKPA met Interleague giants Sun Valley from Nottingham and ran them close before losing 10-6.

£400 prize money was collected but more importantly the League rubbed shoulders and beat some impressive teams.

A proud moment for all concerned with the SLKPA, and the best showing to date in the League's history with hopefully more success to come in future tournaments.
