Surrey's racecourses have come up with some quirky schemes to draw in the punters this week, writes Clare Fortescue.

All women get free entry to the first evening race meeting of the summer at Kempton Park tonight (Wednesday) - as will men dressed up as women!

Debenhams are awarding prizes to the best-dressed visitors, which will be awarded by Heart FM's Toby Anstis, who will be acting as DJ after the racing. First race is at 6.20pm.

Sandown begin two days of racing on Friday April 27 with it's Freddy Steady Go.

Anybody named Fred or with Fred in their name gets into the racecourse free - but you need ID to prove your name.

Former chart-toppers Right Said Fred will be there for the day, initiated by Fred Done, founders of bookies Betfred.

Saturday is Betfred Gold Cup Day when last weekend's Scottish Grand National winner Hot Weld bids for an unprecedented big race double.
