New Dagenham & Redbridge boss Ben Strevens does not expect an easy ride in his first game in charge against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Daggers host the Latics at Victoria Road, sitting in 12th place in the National League table, nine points off a play-off place with two games in hand on Eastleigh.

Oldham are only seven points back in 14th place, having won 4-2 when the sides met at Boundary Park in early February.

"I've seen bits of it," Strevens told the club website, referring to that fixture.

"It's hard. With anything in this league, a month is a long time, changes of formation, changes of personnel.

"I watched the game they played against Eastleigh, see the way they played, the things they were trying to do.

"I expect them to be slightly different again on Saturday but you never know. We'll find out when we get the teamsheets at two o'clock.

"I've got respect for the job he [David Unsworth] is doing there, they had a slow start to the season, but certainly picked up and have picked up some real good results along the way.

"The respect is there towards them but we're concentrating on what we can do well, how we can cause problems, while knowing the threats they have.

"They've got players within the group that know how to win football games, from playing lots of games and experience.

"They've got experienced centre-halves, all big lads, front two whoever it is, the combination they have from the boys available, will cause different sorts of problems, and the lad in midfield Rooney was always a real handful coming up against him, I remember for Barrow he was probably one of the stand-out performers in the league.

"Every team at this level has got its threat, it's just concentrating on us, recognising what they have but just worrying about our team and the stronger our team is, the stronger the team is going to be, that's the message from me.

"Strong as a group, strong the ones that are playing and the ones that are ready to come on and make that impact, that leads into success for all of them."

Daggers have seen striker Junior Morias leave for Notts County this week, for an undisclosed fee, following Josh Walker and Paul McCallum out the exit door.

And Steve Gritt has also departed by mutual consent, having served as assistant manager to former boss Daryl McMahon.

Strevens has a few injuries to consider in his squad ahead of his home debut as boss, but is hoping for a bright start to life in the hotseat.

He added: "There's a few boys with little bits and pieces, as is to be expected.

"We trained today [Thursday] and the majority of the group were out there, how they settle down overnight and what they leads into tomorrow we'll find out.

"Regardless of whoever is available, it's important the ones that are there have had the work throughout the week, knowing going into Saturday what we want them to do.

"Every team will be the same at this time of the season, there's been a lot of games in a short space of time."
