PALACE midfielder James McArthur could miss the start of the season after sustaining an injury to his groin during pre-season training.
The veteran endured an injury-hit 2021/22 Premier League campaign with a hamstring injury that he suffered in November.
He was sidelined until February and was limited to just 15 starts in the league after he picked up further injuries.
Now according to The Athletic, the 34-year-old has been given a fresh blow as he will likely miss the start of the next season and the entirety of Palace's pre-season preparations.
The midfielder only recently signed a one-year extension with the club, will miss the next month of training. This will also impact his aims of starting for the team as he will have to catch up in building up his fitness.
Vieira will be hoping the club can seal a deal for RC Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure, which is believed to be close.
McArthur will now miss Palace's pre-season tour to Singapore to play against Liverpool before travelling to face Leeds United and Manchester United in Australia.
The remaining players that are not going on tour will play a friendly match against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on July 23.
