FORMER Chelsea striker and current Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is among the favourites to become the new Addicks boss according to the bookies.

Manager Johnnie Jackson departed the club after steering it to a 13th placed finish in League One.

Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard is now on the mission to try and find his replacement and he revealed that there were a lot of "great candidates" in the running for the spot in the dugout.

The bookies current have Hasselbaink as the favourite to take over the club as he is rated at 3/1 by Bet Victor.

The Dutchman has managed 254 games during his managerial career, winning 101, drawing 65 and losing the other 88 games.

Most recently Hasselbaink led Burton Albion to 16th in League One, although it is believed that Charlton are not considering Hasselbaink to become the new manager.

The other managers in the running according to Bet Victor are Mark Warburton (4/1), Neil Lennon (5/1), Michael Beale (6/1), Darren Ferguson (8/1), Mark Bonner (14/1) and Sean Dyche (20/1).

The last on that list would certainly excite fans at The Valley. Dyche recently left Burnley after a decade in charge of the club, in which he got the Clarets promoted to the Premier League and kept them in until his sacking earlier this season.

Although it would be a big drop down the leagues for the Englishman.

Former Celtic and Norwich manager Neil Lennon was 20/1 last week, but his odds have been cut to 5/1, putting him firmly in the running.
