With the end of the Premier League season dawning and an exciting transfer window imminent, the South London club have been heavily linked with a move for 22 year old, Malian, defensive midfielder Cheick Doucoure, who so far this season has impressed greatly for Ligue 1 side Lens.

Scoring once and assisting four times in thirty appearances for Lens this season, the holding midfielder has assisted the French club greatly in their attempt for Europa Conference league qualification, with his presence allowing for a stable control of the midfield.

The young Malian’s physicality on the ball has excelled significantly this season, indicated through his ability to hold off and pass players with his upper body strength and proficient dribbling. Doucoure’s passing ability has also proved to be a key feature of his game, and an addition such as himself into the Eagle’s midfield would greatly improve their distribution from the centre of the pitch.

With the future of Palace’s current number eight Cheikhou Kouyate seeming uncertain due to his expiring contract following his standout season at the club, the signature of Doucoure will prove to be vital for the cteam as their search for the long term replacement of Kouyate continues.
