ADDICKS defender Sam Lavelle has given a positive update on his shoulder injury.

The defender ruptured ligaments in his shoulder and needed to have surgery.

Lavelle confirmed that he has had plates put in his shoulder in order to help his recovery, but will have to be taken out at some point next season.

The injury was suffered during Charlton's match against AFC Wimbledon and he has missed the last four matches.

He told CharltonTV: "I has surgery last week and it went well and I'll be back, easily, in time for pre-season. I think eight weeks is the week just before pre-season.

"The timing is not too bad.

"I ruptured ligaments in the shoulder, it was just a bang in a Saturday game and then it got worse in the next game."

The 25-year-old has made 24 appearances in League One this season, scoring two goals.
