ADDICKS boss Johnnie Jackson believes that defender Jason Pearce is at a "crossroads" in his career.
The 34-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season and he will be able to leave the club as a free agent.
Pearce has already started some coaching and has already admitted that he believes he can play for one more season.
Speaking to the South London Press, Jackson said: “He’s done well at times and, like everyone else, has been inconsistent as well.
“He is one we have to look at, he’s coming to a crossroads in his career and wants to do coaching.
“If I’m him you have to look – if he wants to play two more years then where is that? And how is he getting his coaching in? I’ve had many discussions with Pearcey.
“I was in a similar situation. It is about putting yourself in the position where you’re going to maximise coaching potential and wind down your playing. It’s a tough one.
“He is still fit and still wants to play. He still feels he is capable. But ultimately you want to be a coach and a manager for the next 25 years.
“So he has to think long and hard about what puts him in the best position to do that. It is a tricky old time in a player’s career.”
