ADDICKS manager Johnnie Jackson has admitted it was a tough decision not to start Mason Burstow against Crewe.
The 18-year-old striker is highly rated at the club especially after he announced himself in August by scoring against Crawley in his debut with his first touch.
He impressed again in the FA Cup against Norwich and then when he came off the bench against Crewe last night.
The striker scored his first league goal for the Addicks, although it was not enough to earn the team a positive result.
Jackson told South London Press: “I don’t care how old you are – if you’re doing the business then I’m going to take you seriously.
“You are going to be in my thinking. He [Burstow] has done that and fair play to the kid.
“It was a difficult decision not to start him [at Crewe].
“What he does give us is that youthful enthusiasm and he knows where the goal is.
“The boy came on and impacted the game last night and he is at the forefront of my thoughts for the weekend having not started that one in midweek.
“He’s come on and got another goal. He gives me that option.”
Charlton face Cheltenham on Saturday and Burstow could be in line for a start.
