PALACE have been linked with a £15 million move for Senegal striker Bamba Dieng.

Patrick Vieira is in the market for a striker as a potential replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta who has been linked with an exit from the club.

In the short-term Vieira will also be looking for back-up as Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha are away on international duty at AFCON.

According to French outlet La Provence, Palace are one of a handful of Premier League clubs hoping to sign Marseille's Dieng before the end of the window.

The report suggested that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Ham United are also interested in signing Dieng alongside Palace.

Although Newcastle's signing of Chris Wood from Burnley might drop them out of the running.

Dieng is very-highly rated but has only scored four goals and provided one assist in his 20 appearances for Marseille this season.

Football journalist Adam  White believes he would be a decent signing for Palace as he is a 'talented player'.

White told GiveMeSport: “For Palace, yes (he would be a good signing) because he's a talented player, he’s a goalscorer. His movement's fantastic, very, very skillful finisher. But for him as a player, he needs time.

"So, Marseille is a good place for him to be at the moment, but if Palace can get him, then they're getting a very, very talented striker.”
