PALACE boss Patrick Vieira is managing expectations after a promising start to his reign as manager.

The Frenchman was viewed as a risk when he was appointed over the summer but has proved doubters wrong after revolutionising Palace's style of play.

The previous manager Roy Hodgson had stabilised the club in the Premier League with defensive football, which was very different to Vieira's style.

This season Palace have shown a lot of promise and are challenging for a spot in the top ten in the Premier League.

Speaking on ITV prior to the FA Cup victory over Millwall, Vieira said: “I fully understand, talking with the Palace fans and talking about the people who are around the players or working in the football club.

“There is this kind of expectation of these football clubs to win silverware.

“It's about what can we do to give ourselves the chance to win something. [But] where we are now and winning the FA Cup or challenging teams in the top ten, we still have a long way to go.”

“We came here and we adapt ourselves to the football club," added the Frenchman.

"We don't want to change the heart of this football club because this club exists before and it will exist after us, so we adapted ourselves to the football club.
