This Is Local London: Arteta celebrating with the fans.Arteta celebrating with the fans.

After another impressive win on Saturday at Leicester Arsenal are now in 6th joint on points with Manchester United. Since the calamitous 5-0 loss to Man City Arsenal are unbeaten in the league and the difference in fan’s morale since is night and day.

After just the third game of the season Arsenal supporters were already voicing their concerns over Arteta as manager and asking for change and wanted a reaction from the players and that is what they got with 1-0 wins over Norwich and Burnley which were far from impressive but at least it was getting the job done. Then came the North London derby which in my opinion was the real changing point as this was a commanding performance winning 3-1. Not only the performance was amazing there was a different buzz around the stadium and I’m sure fans will tell you that it was electric.

This has led on to 2 wins and 2 draws with a last gasp equalizer against palace from Lacazette ensuring that there was still momentum. The most important thing during this run of games is the performance and that is that it hasn’t been abysmal with slight drops like against Brighton in a bore nil nil draw. Other then that it has been an encouraging 2 months for Arsenal, and they will be hoping for a good Christmas season and then seeing if there are any improvements to be made. Another positive outcome from the beginning of the season is the recruitment and good work from very often criticized Edu who with excellent work in the window has rejuvenated the squad. Especially with Takehiro Tomiyasu, who many were unsure about being one of the standout players .

The only problem is that we have seen this before in the post Wenger era, for example when an Emery led Arsenal went over 10 premier league games unbeaten and we all know how that ended. Also, the outstanding second half of the season last year that Arsenal had which meant they were the second-best team in the league January onwards. What I’m trying to say is that these last few games might just be another sprint at the beginning of a very long marathon for Arsenal fans.

In my opinion Arsenal must have a decent festive season without trouble keeping key players fit and in form. They will then have the difficult decision in January to decide whether they bolster the team or if they don’t need to and carry on with the team that they have.

Overall, it has been an encouraging start, but it is to early to say whether it will be maintained or will start going down hill fast. As I said Arsenal are in 6th and not far away from that top 4 but again it is to early for all that as well as the top 3 seem to have checked out from the rest of the league and only left one spot left.
