Becky Jane’s first half strike set Liverpool on the path to all three points against a London Bees side who were very much in the game for large periods but ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline.

The visitors gave as good as they got in Sunday’s affair, but couldn’t find the equaliser, with Amelia Hazard going closest with a second half header.

And they were made to pay late in the game, as Ceri Holland and Amy Rodgers both found the net to secure a first win in four for the Reds.

Jane broke the deadlock early on, as the Bees were undone by Ashley Hodson’s delightful ball across the area which allowed the striker to finish from eight yards.

Goalscorer Jane was finding space everywhere. Her run and pass to Missy Bo Kearns saw the midfielder unleash a top corner-bound effort that Sarah Quantrill managed to tip over the bar with a flying save.

Bees stepped it up in the second half, and continued to harry and press their opponents. It nearly paid dividends as the London side robbed Liverpool of possession and Lauren Pickett almost stabbed home.

Moments later Rachael Laws was forced into a sharp save at her near post from Hazard’s header. Sophie Quirk then created a great chance for herself, clipping the cross bar with a cultured attempt.

The Reds made three subs, trying to ameliorate the determined Bees line-up. Rachel Furness came on and played up top, and her header found Meikayla Moore who missed her kick from yards out.

Fellow substitute Mel Lawley soon made the difference, as she played in Holland who slipped a shot underneath the advancing Quantrill to seal the points and pop the Bees’ balloon. Rodgers then added a clinical finish in the closing stages to add a red gloss on the scoreline.
