Millwall were left frustrated as Jack Walton’s string of late saves helped Barnsley earn a point in Saturday’s 1-1.

Walton made two excellent stops in the final 10 minutes as the Lions missed the chance to make it three wins in three for the first time under Gary Rowett.

Rowett missed the game, having tested positive for COVID on Friday, but would have been frustrated by his side’s lack of cutting edge.

Here’s how the players rated:

Bartosz Bialkowski – 6

A quiet game for Bart, only needing to make one save from Herbie Kane’s free kick.

Mahlon Romeo – 4

Mahlon seems to have dipped in the last few games. Sloppy today, misplacing passes and making poor decisions in the defensive third.

Shaun Hutchinson – 6

Solid as usual from Hutch but guilty of giving away a number of sloppy free kicks.

Alex Pearce – 7

The pick of the defence for Millwall, keeping his side in the first with a series of clearances.

Jake Cooper – 6

A classic Cooper header spared Millwall’s first half blushes and he grew into the second half.

Scott Malone – 7

Came close a few times, arriving late in the box in typical Malone fashion. A big block in the first half too when Millwall were under pressure.

Ryan Leonard – 7

Impressive display from Lenny today, really showing form in the midfield. A number of great tackles to stop counters.

Shaun Williams – 6

A solid display from Willo given his lack of minutes. Not the slickest of passing but kept with the pace well.

Jed Wallace – 7

Livened up in the second half and delivered a couple of very dangerous cross from Bennett and Zohore.

Connor Mahoney – 5

Unfortunately, couldn’t build on his display in midweek against Luton. Consistency has been his problem at Millwall and it showed again today.

Mason Bennett – 6

Struggled physically against the Barnsley back three but showed his quality when he moved onto left left.

Subs:

Kenneth Zohore – 7

Changed the game for Millwall and was very unlucky not to score on his debut. His physicality brought Millwall forward and his performance shows plenty of promise.

Ryan Woods – 7

Upped the tempo for Millwall as soon as he stepped on the pitch and Millwall began to create more chances. Definitely missed in the first half.

Ben Thompson – 6

Unlucky not to score, his close-range effort kept out superbly by Walton. Got into good positions but couldn’t quite do enough.
