It was a disappointing opening day for Millwall, as the side failed to excite in their 0-0 draw at home to Stoke City.

With several key players missing, Rowett will probably be happy with the point, but there is plenty of work to be done.

Here is how the players rated:

Bartosz Bialkowski – 7

The league’s best keeper kept up his form with some confident stops this afternoon. Quick of his line, couldn’t ask for more.

Ryan Leonard – 6

Big shoes to fill replacing an injured Mahlon Romeo. Little impact but didn’t look uncomfortable at any point.

Shaun Hutchinson – 7

Solid as usual from Hutch, hardly a mistake made, up against Sam Vokes for the majority.

Alex Pearce – 5

The weakest of the three centre backs and was caught out by Campbell’s pace on occasion.

Jake Cooper – 7

Vokes gave up trying to win headers against him within 10 minutes. A couple of crucial actions to keep it level in the first half.

Scott Malone – 7

A bright spark in a poor bunch. The exact sort of player Millwall needed to add to their squad. Driving runs, solid defending and even a goal threat at times.

Ben Thompson – 5

Despite one lovely pass, it was a poor game for Thommo. Still a bit rusty having missed half of last season through injury.

Shaun Williams – 4

Not a great performance from the new player-coach. Too sloppy in possession for someone who normally offers composure.

Jed Wallace – 4

Poor decision making, poor touches and lack of creativity. He has a high benchmark this year but I expect more from Jed.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson – 4

Millwall won’t score many with Bodvarsson up front this year. Gets dominated too easily, too often.

Mason Bennett – 6

Glimpses of good play, hungry to drive at the Stoke defence in the first half. Leaving the pitch injury-free is a positive.

Subs:

Matt Smith – 5

Little impact from the big man, guilty of a few sloppy fouls.

Connor Mahoney –  5

No real impact, looked like he was in on the counter, but overall didn’t add the quality that Millwall were looking for.

Murray Wallace – N/A
