Here’s how the Crystal Palace players rated in their 1-0 victory against fierce rivals Brighton.

Vicente Guaita – 9

The Spaniard was equal to the task whenever he was called upon. The Eagles goalkeeper helped weather the storm in the early part of the second half to keep Palace in the game. Made a crucial stop to prevent Maupay from putting the Seagulls ahead.

Joel Ward – 7

Has been a reliable player for Palace all season. He had big boots to fill when Wan-Bissaka departed the club at the start of the season, but the full-back has fulfilled expectations. Ward has formed a good partnership with Jordan Ayew down the right-back for Palace, and the players combined well all-game long.

Scott Dann – 8

The former Eagles captain has slotted in well at the back next to stand-in captain Gary Cahill. Expect him to remain in the side for as long as Palace keep winning, as Hodgson has been reluctant to change winning sides throughout the season.

Gary Cahill – 8

The skipper had another great game at the back. He would have been disappointed with himself early in the first half when he perhaps should have put the visitors ahead from a corner, but the former England international fluffed his attempt at goal. Nonetheless, the captain was superb at the back and helped keep Palace in the game with a number of game saving challenges.

Patrick van Aanholt – 7

The Dutchman is arguably having his best season in a Palace shirt. Although he is not the best defensively, you can’t fault what he does for the Eagles going forward. The full-back works tirelessly up and down the left flank, and as he proved last week, he is more than capable of scoring a goal.

James McCarthy – 6

Didn’t have his best performance in an Eagles shirt today. The Irishman isn’t having the best of seasons and he looked a little bit off the pace out there on the pitch at the Amex. Substituted at the half-time break.

This Is Local London:

Cheikhou Kouyate – 7

Not able to get forward and support the forwards as much as he would have liked. Especially in the second half when the Eagles found themselves pinned back and under pressure for significant periods of the game. The midfielder nearly put Palace 1-0 up in the first half by Brighton keeper Matt Ryan prevented the Senegalese international from scoring.

James McArthur – 7

Another solid and consistent performance again today. Very little you can fault about him. Not the most glamourous player, but he sticks to the basics, and he does them well.

Wilfried Zaha – 7

Involved in a strange altercation with Schelotto in the first half which will probably result in some sort of punishment from the FA. Didn’t have as much of the ball as he would have liked. Frustrating game for the winger.

Jordan Ayew – 7

Had a quiet game until he announced himself with the winner towards the end of the game. It was a well-taken goal, and it was the striker’s 7th in the Premier League this season.

Christian Benteke – 6

Most Eagles fans can’t comprehend how the Belgian still consistently finds his way into the starting line-up most weeks, especially with Tosun fit again. The striker had two glorious chances to score today- both of which he missed. Somehow he lasted 87 minutes on the pitch. About the only thing that did go for him was the decisive pass to play in Jordan Ayew to slot the ball home. But even still, most Premier League strikers would have been capable of that.

Jairo Riedewald – 7

Came on for McCarthy at half-time. Although his game time has been limited this season, when he has been called upon, he hasn’t failed to disappoint and he did well out there again today.

Cenk Tosun – N/A

Only featured for the final few minutes of the game.
