Here’s how we rated Charlton’s players in their heavy 4-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Dillon Phillips – 5 – I don’t think Phillips can be blamed too much. His defence largely let him down and produced some important saves to keep Charlton in it.

Adam Matthews – 5 – Was forced to deal with the threats of Harry Toffolo and Karlan Grant throughout the game. Denied the chance to equalise by Danny Simpson’s last-ditch block.

Deji Oshilaja – 4 – He should have done better for the first goal but Lapslie deserves blame, too. Both were at fault. Produced a cutback cross that Cullen should have at least hit the target with.

Jason Pearce – 4 – Missed the interception which would have ultimately denied Steve Mounie the second goal. A costly error which helped to send Huddersfield on their way to victory.

Alfie Doughty – 5 – Had one or two flashes of good play but his overall display was average. Was let off a couple of times defensively, too.

Josh Cullen – 5 – Sat in front of the defence as the holding midfielder but looked like he had too much to do defensively, and Huddersfield exploited that. Should have worked the goalkeeper with that Oshilaja chance.

George Lapslie – 5 – His decision to pass back to Oshilaja in that situation was a bad one, and I think he knows that too. Booked for a foul before being subbed off seconds later. Replaced with Hemed.

Erhun Oztumer – 4 – Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley admitted post-match that he looked to exploit Oztumer’s position in the right side of midfield, and it worked. Replaced with Williams.

Aiden McGeady – 4 – Was given the role of chief creator but struggled to stamp his influence on the game, creating too few chances of note. Replaced with Bonne.

Lyle Taylor – 5 – Appealed for a penalty when he tangled with Danny Simpson in the box but it was not given. Had one shot all game but did help fashion a half-chance. Not a great afternoon.

Andre Green – 5 – End product was lacking in the final third, both in terms of creation and finishing. Arguably did not do enough to stop Toffolo’s cross for the second.
