Watford have told Colombian striker Luis Suarez they would like him to sign a new contract with the club.

Sources close to Suarez have revealed that the striker, who is currently out on loan at Real Zaragoza, has been told he is part of the Hornets' future plans and that they intend to speak to him about extending his current deal.

The 22-year-old is contracted with Watford until June 2022, but his performances this season that have seen him find the net 16 times in 27 league games, turning the heads of some bigger clubs in Spain.

Earlier this month Barcelona enquired about the striker's availability in their search for a potential emergency signing following an injury to Ousamane Dembele, but instead opted to go with Martin Braithwaite.

It is now Watford's intention to retain his services and tie him down to a longer deal.
