Lee Bowyer expects goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall to put pen to paper to keep him at the club in the next few weeks.

The Charlton manager expects Marshall to follow his and Assistant Manager Jonnie Jackson’s footsteps, who signed a new deal keeping him with the club until the summer of 2023.

Marshall, 44, whose current deal is up at the end of the season, has been part of the Addicks coaching set-up since June 2018, helping them win promotion last season.

“He’s next on the list,” Bowyer said.

“These things can take time.

“Hopefully Andy is the next one to get over the line, I’m sure he will, but it’s up to Andy and the club.

“Hopefully it’s the next few weeks.

“He wants to stay, we’ve got a good group here, good players and we’re all doing good jobs, we’re all improving.”

Starting off at Norwich City, Marshall went on to appear for Bournemouth, Gillingham, Ipswich Wolves, Coventry, Millwall and Aston Villa during a 20-year career.
