Here's five things we learned from Charlton's 2-0 defeat by Blackburn Rovers.

Taylor’s good, but he needs help

As Charlton had the mammoth task of coming back from a two-goal deficit, the Addicks looked to their talisman Lyle Taylor for a moment of magic.

As expected, chances fell to him and a couple free kicks were whiskers away from registering.

No team is a one man team, but time and time again you feel there’s too much pressure being put on the forward’s shoulders to dig them out of a hole.

Tracking runs, initiating the press, plugging holes when in the defensive shape, Taylor’s limits seemed to have no bounds, he just needs someone behind him threading those balls.

David Davies is a reliable CM

This Is Local London:

With his third successive appearance for Charlton, the Birmingham loanee seems to have the full trust of Lee Bowyer.

Davies completing another 90 minutes shows his value and reliability, which brings balance he brings to the expressive midfield.

This bodes well as the experienced and sometimes overused Darren Pratley can be rested without worry - the 34-year-old has completed 90 minutes of his last 14 appearances.

Midfield intensity is missing without Johnny Williams

Johnny Willams’ absence was evident. The middle third lacked intensity and creativity.

With Cullen and Davies majorly on defensive duty, Williams’ ability to quickly transition defensive into attack was missing.

Bowyer added Matt Smith and Andre Green to the fray but the business the Welshman offers is unrivalled, and noticeable when he’s not on the park.

All will hope his latest injury isn’t a long term one.

McGeady needs to get up to speed

This Is Local London:

Much was expected from Aiden McGeady. His name alone gets you nodding your head, knowing there’s a real player in there.

Asked to provide the spark in the middle of the park, the Irish international looked well short of what Sunderland fans of him last season.

Running down blind alleys, poor passing, overhit crosses, wrong decision making, it wasn’t a good day for the former Everton man.

He had his issues with the Black Cats earlier in the season, why else would they let him go, so one would hope he’s come to The Valley to kick-start his season.

After his performance against Blackburn it’s clear he’s still someway short of last season’s sharpness.

It’s too early to lambast the midfielder, especially as he’s only recently overcome a bout of illness, but with just 13 games to go, Addicks fans will hope he gets up to full speed ASAP.

Decisions don't just go against Charlton

Often as fans, we tend to believe decisions go against our team and no one else.

On Saturday I think most would agree that Charlton got away with ‘one.’

Whether it was the fact he didn’t want to upset a 26,000 strong crowd at The Valley or not, Andy Davies should have given Rovers a penalty for THAT incident.

That’s not to say Blackburn didn’t get away with any questionable decisions of their own. Multiple decisions in fact, none more so than the free-kick that lead to the second goal, or a dangerously high and late tackle on Andre Green late on.

There were a number of poor decisions made by Mr Davies on Saturday, but against both sides. Blame the weather?
