Blackburn Rovers were deserved winners in their 2-0 win over Charlton said Lee Bowyer.

In windy conditions it was Tony Mowbray’s men who acquitted themselves better as first half strikes from John Buckley and Tosin Adarabioyo was enough for three points.

Bowyer, whose side came into the fixture on the back of an impressive 1-0 win midweek at Nottingham Forest failed to get going with only two shots on target during the 90.

“Blackburn did a good professional performance on us,” Bowyer conceded.

“They played the conditions better than us, they did a good job,

“Got a lot of experienced players in their side, I thought they did well.

“Disappointing day really, was hoping for more.”

Bowyer couldn’t fault the effort of his men in front of a packed Valley, but admitted that on too many occasions the final delivery was lacking in quality, quality Mowbray’s men possessed.

“Thought we started well, we were better than them for the first 10-15, got in good areas but quality was poor.

“After the first goal they were the better side in the first half.

“Thought we improved second half, but we huffed and puffed but without real quality at times.

“They worked hard physically, but sometime quality, you need to show it.

“Thought that Tony did a good job on us.”
